We are a taiji club based in Helsinki. Taijiquan (also known as taiji, taijiquan, taichi, or tai chi chuan) is an ancient Chinese martial art that is now best known as a form of exercise that promotes good health. Thanks to its gentle and slow movements, Taijiquan is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Taijiquan teaches you to relax muscle tension and strengthen weak parts of your body. Practitioners improve their flexible strength and mental presence, which is useful in everyday life. Through Taijiquan, you can enhance your balance and concentration, and thereby reduce the risk of accidental falls. In Chinese terms, when practicing taijiquan, you are "still as a mountain, moving like a river."
Our club teaches the classic Yang style. In our training, we focus on relaxing the body and mind and learning good, natural posture. Our teaching begins with the traditional slow Yang-style long form. Eventually you can advance into fast forms, partner exercises, weapons, and applications of the movements.
